PLC Database Integration
PLC database integration allows data to be exchanged
between equipment utilizing programmable logic controller (PLC)
technology and one or more database servers. This my specialty and the
primary focus of Bevan Engineering.
Exchanging data yields enormous costs savings. These
costs savings are realized by eliminating mistakes from the operator
level to the process level. For example, some processes may require the
operator to select a configuration before starting. This can be
eliminated. Additionally, some processes may rely on the successful
operation of another process. This type of verification - called a
Poka Yoke - can be enforced to
prevent these type of errors from occurring. Lastly, to help promote
Lean Manufacturing methods, a
great deal of statistical data can be recorded to provide details of
cycle times, idle time, production counts, etc.
Bevan Engineering offers two types of PLC database
integration implementation: PC based and Factory Talk Transaction
Manager based (formerly RSSQL - commonly referred to as "Rascal").
PC Based
Database Integration
PC based
database integration utilizes a industrial computer and customized
software to act as an interface between a PLC and a SQL database.
You can find more information about PC based database integration
here.
Factory Talk
Transaction Manager Based Database Integration
Factory Talk Transaction Manager
based database integration utilizes a standard Rockwell Software product
to exchange data between a database and PLC. No industrial computers or
special software is required. You can find more information about
Factory Talk Transaction Manager based database integration
here.
